Online stes
- Avogadro online scoring system: After working with the WSO for three years, and pioneering the first online scoring system for them in the history of the WSO, the system continues to grow and evolve into its own website. The 2006 version transitioned the WSO site to a PHP/SQL setup rather than CGI/Flat file databases. This site is the 3rd version of the web service, migrating to a fully independent PHP core, allowing different instances to be stamped out and customized, while all pointing to the same core files. This version is used for Wisconsin and Illinois state-level competitions, and will be used for national-level competitions in 2010 and 2011
- Crescendo Clinical and Translational Research Exchange: A corporate site of PercipEnz Technologies, Inc, built and maintained by Brooks. The original site design was done by RS&K, though this has been modified since, and new pages continue to expand the style. This site is highly dynamic, and interacts with multiple data services to provide users with multiple ways to view their data.
- MidnightDesign HQ: Don't forget the site you're currently looking at... MidnightDesign designed and maintains all aspects of this site, including the extensive CGI/Perl scripts in use in the old Portfolio. and the PHP/mySQL scripts for the new one.
- Multimedia Design Senior Show: One of Brooks' final projects for the class was to design the website that promotes it. (This URL may or may not be the final resting place for this website, since UW-Stout has no official website yet for the Multimedia Design major).
- NAMI Waukesha: The Waukesha branch of the NAMI association wanted their own website, and MidnightDesign designed the graphics and layout for them, based on their existing stationairy.
- Onsemble.net: This community site for customers of PercipEnz Technologies, Inc.'s OnCore software was translated from the older PHP Nuke content management system to a Joomla! content management system, and Brooks continues to maintain that, along with writing custom Joomla! extensions for it.
- PercipEnz.com: Corporate website for PercipEnz Technologies, Inc. Brooks was hired as full-time webmaster for them in January of 2009 and maintains several websites for them. This is their public, corporate site, which integrates a WordPress blogging system to announce news events
- UW-Stout Applied Science Department: This site is devoted to providing information about one of the smaller majors at the University of Wisconsin Stout. Brooks' main work was to redesign the graphic layout of the site, and give the major its own identity.
Offline stes
- BIG DryIce.com: In the spring of 2001, Brooks was invited to join the national web design team calling themselves the DreamTeam. It was a great experience, and we did one website as a team. For this site, we were helping market a new image compression technology entitled DryIce. On this website, I created the Flash and static introductions (as well as tailor-made the script that determines if you have Flash already or not) as well as the appearance of the internal pages. Unfortunately the company marketing DryIce foundered, and the domain has been abandoned.
- herSource.com: Brooks worked as an intern at GE Medical Systems for the past year, and worked with them on several Inter- and Intra-net sites owned by GE. Unfortunately, the Intranet sites are firewalled against public viewing, so you can't see those pages, but herSource.com is one of the public sites that I've been working on, so take a look here. Duties on the team included graphic design, database maintainance (SQL) and ColdFusion coding. I also created several Flash animations to display the site's sponsors, but the whole site has been redone since then, and the designs I worked on are gone.
- Planet Julie: For those of you who watch MTV's the Real World, you'll might recognize Julie from the New Orleans season. She sought me out as a local friend to help her design her website focused on her experiences working on the show. Julie has changed her site's layout several times (firstly enforced my MTV's contract police, which is why my version of her site got disabled), for a while some of the pages I designed lingered on her site, but they have now since been cleaned up. The current 'Version' of the website's look and feel is 11.3. MidnightDesign's work was used in versions 1 through 3.
- Wisconsin Science Olympiad (WSO) 2003 and 2004 Site: The first time ever the WSO was judged via an online scoring system, and it was designed by me. The system worked perfectly for gathering and ranking judging data, as well as keeping information about all the contestants. The 2003 version was done as an advanced proof-of-concept (paper voting was used as a backup), but the 2004 version featured many improvements including more features geared toward non-WSO staff (mainly reports for judges, coaches, students, schools showing the information that they would find relevant about the competition and its results). Both versions of the site were taken down late 2004 due to a hacker on the University of Wisconsin - Stout webserver, but look in the Online Sites section for the 2005 version!
